Help students to get familiar with the phrases and try to describe the birthday in the UK. ● “Just now we learned the birthday in China and the UK. So is the food different or the same in different country?” Step 3 Skimming ● “Open your books, skim the article and try to find out which information is mentioned in the passage. You just need to read the key words quickly.” ● Check answers by asking students to say the related words.Step 4 Scanning ● Show them the uncompleted phrases on the screen. Ask them to scan the article quickly. Then try to find out the key phrases in each paragraph. ● Students read the article quickly and filling the missing words by themselves. ● Check their ideas.Step 5 Careful Reading ● Ask students to read the paragraph 1 carefully and answer the given question. ● Show them a chart about UK. Encourage students to read the paragraph 2 and try to fill in it. Help them get familiar withe the phrases “in one go, blow out..” ● Have them read the paragraph 3 and try to fill in the information about China. ● Offer them two sentences to judge true or false. They should give their own ideas after reading paragraph 4.Step 7 2c Read & Answer ● Call attention to the questions in 2c. Then ask them to read the article quickly again and try to find out the answers. Have them underline the answers in the article. ● Check answers. Step 8 Guess ● Show them the initial letters of phrases.
